BADU Sports has supported schools by delivering high quality physical education and mentoring for the last eleven years. BADU provide three main services that support education and development:
1. We deliver physical activity in schools
Providing excellent quality physical education for students and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for all teaching and support staff. We currently work in 45% of schools in Hackney and branched out to other London Boroughs including Tower Hamlets, Islington and Haringey. Each week, we reach 22,000 young people between the ages of 3 to 19 years.
Our students consistently perform above target grades and expectations, encouraged by our tailored programmes to support positive outcomes.
2. We deliver extracurricular activities
Providing the extra curricular clubs that young people want and need; and involving their families to provide a multi generational experience. We support teachers with competitions, behaviour management, residential programmes and apprenticeships.
We provide a successful running club for the community that is intergenerational and diverse (ethnicity, age, socio- economic status.
Holiday Camps give children the opportunity to learn new life skills and make a positive contribution to the development of our community.
3. We provide bespoke mentoring programmes
We create opportunities to learn from positive role models, encouraging positive mental and physical health. All our staff and volunteers are able to signpost the most vulnerable and in need to our programmes and are trained in contextual safeguarding and trauma- informed practices.
BADU mentoring programme is proven to expand employment and career prospects, with 85% of students on the programme in 2019 going on to study at University, compared to 21% of students nationally from low participation neighbourhoods that year.
